I was already a sucker for turn-based strategy games, and HoMM III’s gameplay combined with its story to make something I couldn’t possibly ignore. Twitch probably wouldn’t have existed.īut there was one game that came out in 1999 that held my interest for quite some time: Heroes of Might & Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia. It wasn’t necessarily an underground hobby, but it was something small pockets of people enjoyed rather than EVERYONE ALL THE TIME, like it is now. Video games were definitely not as big, or even as popular as they are now. Things were waaaaaay different, and not just in everyday life.
